Albufeira is located in the center of the Algarve, a town from the district of Faro, with about 40.000 inhabitants. It borders Silves to the west and northwest, Loulé to the northeast and east, and the wonderful and wide coast of the Atlantic to the south, with beaches surrounded by stunning cliffs. The Mediterranean climate brings hot and dry summers and mild winters with minimal rainfall.
Tourism is the most important activity of Albufeira. A real economic expansion has begun in the 60's with international tourism. Albufeira became part of the main tourist routes. Geographically, the region has a coastline of 30 km spread over 23 fine sandy beaches and crystal clear water. The zone has at a national level, one of the highest concentration of blue flags (European symbol of quality beaches). For golf lovers, there are several courses that represent the best in Portugal, such as Salgados course, Pine Cliffs or Balaia Golf Village. In the restaurants, you can enjoy the wonderful fresh fish and the extensive bars throughout the county. The nightlife is one of the most exciting in the Algarve. Albufeira also has a marina, theme parks, and commercial areas, that suit all tastes for those enjoying this beautiful city.
