Lagos blends traditional Portuguese culture and beautiful beaches with an array of tourism facilities. In the south of Lagos you will find Ponta da Piedade, a series of highly weathered cliffs that are lined with spectacular caves, arches and are considered one of the most picturesque natural features of the Algarve. At the east end of Lagos there is the 4km long sandy stretch of beach known as Meia Praia, which is the longest sandy beach on the western side of the Algarve. There are many interesting places around Lagos for enjoyable day trips such as Sagres, Silves, Luz, and Portimão. The spacious Marina, which is connected to the inner city via a walkway, offers all the water sport options you can imagine. The larger supermarkets are open seven days a week. There is a modern private hospital, golf courses and an excellent highway to Faro and Lisbon.
